Netherlands June 2021: Kia Niro best-seller, Skoda Enyaq repeats at #2, market now up YTD

The Skoda Enyaq ranks #2 in the Netherlands for the second month running.

New car sales in the Netherlands are up 34.6% year-on-year in June to 33.318 units, meaning the year-to-date tally is now in positive at +3.3% to 163.173. However keep in mind June 2021 volumes remain down on the pre-pandemic levels of June 2019 at -20% on the 41.671 units sold then. Kia (+32.4%) threepeats as the best-selling carmaker in the country with 9.5% share, outclassing the year-to-date leader Volkswagen (+16.1%) underperforming but up one spot on last month to #2. Skoda (+71.8%) and Toyota (+171.8%) spectacularly outpace the market to rank #3 and #4 respectively while Renault (+55.8%) is also solid and up three ranks to #5. Volvo (+43.6%) and BMW (+40.6%) also beat the market in the remainder of the Top 10 whereas Opel (-37.8%) and Ford (-3.2%) struggle. Below, Mitsubishi (+214.2%), Dacia (+195.1%), Suzuki (+136.5%), Audi (+132.2%), MG (+105.8%) and Mazda (+92.5%) stand out with surreal year-on-year gains. Newcomer Lynk & Co is down 5 spots on May to #31 while Cupra is up 6 to #37.

Model-wise, the Kia Niro (+12.1%) is up three ranks on last month to snap a second monthly win in the past three months, however remaining at #3 year-to-date. The Skoda Enyaq repeats at a formidable 2nd place overall with 2.6% share, eclipsing the year-to-date leader, the Volvo XC40 (+54.2%), the VW Polo (+22.9%) and Kia Picanto (+43%) all within less than 100 sales below. Toyota explains its explosive growth with outstanding performances by the Yaris (+247.1%) and Aygo (+156.2%) at #6 and #7 respectively. The Peugeot 108 (+66.5%) and Renault Captur (+48.7%) also perform well in the remainder of the Top 10. Just outside, the Ford Mustang Mach-E edges up one spot on May to #11 and 1.6% share. The Kia Ceed (+167.5%) and Toyota Corolla (+267.9%) also shoot up. The VW ID.4 is up 11 spots to #22, with the Citroen C4 (#55), Mercedes EQA (#65) and Opel Mokka (#84) the next best-selling recent launches. The Audi Q4 lands at #117, the Hyundai Bayon at #121 and the Dacia Spring at #125.
