Lebanon January-April 2021: Nissan Sunny storms into pole position in market down -28.3%

The Nissan Sunny is the best-selling vehicle in Lebanon so far in 2021.

The Lebanese new car market dives -28.3% year-on-year over the first four months of 2021 to just 3.166 registrations compared to 4.419 a year ago, a result that was affected by Covid-19. It is a testimony of the economic crisis the country is going through at the moment. At the lead of the brands ranking, Toyota gains over ten percentage points of share on its FY2020 level, going  from 23.7% to 35.2%. Nissan also improves from 17.8% to 23.6% as does Lexus leaping from #7 and 4% share to #3 and 10.4%. Suzuki is stable at 6.3% and overtakes Mitsubishi down from 9.1% to 4.9%. The remainder of the Top 10 all lose share vs. FY2020 with Renault, Hyundai, Kia, Land Rover and MG all weighing less in the Lebanese market than they were last year.

The models ranking is completely reshuffled and volatile this year: the Nissan Sunny is the runaway leader with 19% share thanks to the new generation as opposed to just 1% share and #23 over the Full Year 2020. The Toyota Land Cruiser remains at #2 but doubles its market share from 6.7% to 13.5% while the Toyota Hilux leaps from #10 and 2.6% to #2 and 9.3%. It distances the Toyota Corolla at 5.5% and the Lexus LX at 4.7%. The Nissan X-Trail, Suzuki Swift Dzire, Renault Duster and Lexus RX also improve drastically in the remainder of the Top 10.
