Pakistan March 2021: Market up 3-fold year-on-year but down 9% on two years ago
The Suzuki Alto remains the most popular vehicle in Pakistan in March.
March 2020 sales of locally-produced light vehicles in Pakistan were down -69.7% on the year prior so logically this month they rally back up 3-fold or 200.7% year-on-year to 20.813. The year-to-date tally is now up 77% to 54.764. Note March 2021 volumes are down -9% on March 2019 pre-pandemic figures. Brand-wise, Suzuki (+280.1%) outpaces the market but its market share, at 48.8% is weaker than year-to-date at 51.3%. Toyota (+158.2%) can’t match the market growth rate but delivers a strong 32.2% share vs. 30.2% so far this year. Honda (+101.6%) is even weaker at 15.1% share while Hyundai (+803.8%) and JAC (+662.5%) shoot up. In the locally produced models ranking, the Suzuki Alto (+436.8%) is up 5-fold to cement its domination at 22.8% share, keeping the new Toyota Yaris at bay at 15.9%. The Toyota Corolla (+1.8%) is back up 3 spots on last month to #3 overall with 10.2% share vs. 8.8% so far this year. The Suzuki Wagon R (+306.1%) and Ravi (+291.8%) also shine further down.
