New vehicle sales in Kazakhstan continue to gallop ahead in February at +33.3% year-on-year to 7.466 units, bringing the year-to-date volume to 15.799, up 44% over the same period last year. Hyundai (+104.1%) more than doubles its year-ago sales to remain in the brands pole position with a splendid 27.4% share, followed by new local assembler Chevrolet (+3654%) at 25.1%. Although Hyundai and Chevrolet’s market shares are lower than last month, they still account for over half the market together at 52.5%. Toyota (+2.5%) can’t follow the leaders’ rhythm and recedes to 10% share in third place while Lada (-43.6%) implodes and lodges the only year-on-year drop in the Top 7. Chinese carmaker JAC (+518.8%) is up 6-fold to break into the Kazakh Top 5 brands for the second time in the past three months. Volkswagen (+73.3%) and Nissan (+43.9%) also outpace the market in the remainder of the Top 10 whereas Kia (-71.4%) struggles.

Over in the models ranking, the Hyundai Accent (+359.6%) shoots up to the pole position, dislodging the Chevrolet Cobalt and Nexia both down one spot on last month to #2 and #3 respectively. This is the first time since August 2015 that the Hyundai Accent is the best-selling vehicle in Kazakhstan, thanks to a new facelift as pictured above. The Cobalt however remains best-seller year-to-date but for just 25 sales. The Hyundai Creta (+106.1%) advances one spot on January to #4 while the Hyundai Tucson (-3.4%) is down one to #5. The Hyundai Sonata (+321.1%) and VW Polo (+71.8%) also make themselves noticed in the remainder of the Top 10. The Toyota Camry (+23.2%) is more discrete whereas the Lada Vesta (-9.6%) and GAZ Gazelle (-9.4%) put on the brakes.
