No end of the tunnel in sight for new vehicle sales in Kazakhstan: August sees the market tumble down 54% year-on-year to just 6.755 registrations, pulling the year-to-date total down 36% on 2014 to 69.081 units. Lada stays on top but skids to just 18.3% share vs. 28.8% year-to-date. Hyundai on the other hand holds 14.4% of the Kazakh market vs. 13% so far in 2015. Kia at 9.5% is threatened by Renault at 9.4%, GAZ is three percentage points above its YTD level at 7.4% share and Volkswagen also shines at #7 and 5.1%. The models ranking is steering further away from Ladas, with none on the podium for the first time since BSCB started covering Kazakhstan sales monthly two years ago. The Hyundai Accent is the best-selling vehicle in the country for the third straight month, breaking the symbolic 10% market share barrier for the first time at 10.4%. The GAZ Gazelle gains 3 spots on July to land at an outstanding second place with 460 sales and 6.8% just above the Kia Rio at 6.6%. The Lada Granta is knocked down to #4 at 5.5% ahead of the Largus (5.4%) and Priora (5.4%). Notice also the Renault Logan ip to #8 and 3.7% vs. #13 and 2% YTD, the Renault Sandero up to #11 and 2.3% and the Geely Emgrand X7 up 14 spots to #16.
