The Irish new car market bounces back up 4.9% year-on-year in February to 13.785 registrations, leading to a year-to-date tally down -11.1% to 38.935. Toyota (+43%) scores a very healthy gain to remain atop the brands ranking with 12.8% share, distancing last year’s best-seller Volkswagen (-20.5%) in great difficulty this month but back up one spots on January to #2. Hyundai (+17.2%) rounds out the podium with a splendid uptick, with Ford (+53.9%) , Mercedes (+32.9%), Peugeot (+22%) and BMW (+19.8%) also vastly outpacing the market in the remainder of the Top 10. Below, Honda (+63.7%), Lexus (+32.1%) and Volvo (+20.1%) stand out.

Model-wise, the Hyundai Tucson (+40.2%) repeats at #1 thanks to the new generation while last year’s leader the Toyota Corolla (+5.9%) remains in 2nd place for the month. The Skoda Octavia (-3.9%) climbs back up 4 spots on last month to #3 but is down year-on-year whereas the Toyota RAV4 (+127.7%), Yaris (+91.5%), Kia Sportage (+57.8%), Toyota C-HR (+44.2%), Skoda Kodiaq (+39.5%) and VW Golf (+39.1%) all secure fantastic year-on-year gains in the remainder of the Top 10. In fact only the VW Tiguan (-32.4%) freefalls as it was the overall best-seller a year ago. Further down, the Ford Kuga is back to life at #14 thanks to a new generation and the VW ID.3 tops recent launches at #20.
