Luxembourg January 2021: Mercedes leads for 5th straight month, Opel (+37.6%), Peugeot (+18.3%) shine in market down -13.2%
Mercedes is the #1 brand in Luxembourg for the 5th month running.
The Luxembourg new car market drops -13.2% year-on-year to 3.747 units in January, a much better hold than the European average of -25.7%. Mercedes (-4.6%) is the most popular carmaker in the country for the 5th month in a row with 12.8% share vs. 10.7% over the Full Year 2020. It notably outsells Volkswagen (+0.7%) at 11.9% for the month vs. 11.3% last year. BMW (-22.3%) loses quite a lot of ground but remains above its FY2020 level at 10.8% share vs. 9.3%. The largest gains in the Top 10 are to be found below: Opel (+37.6%), Peugeot (+18.3%), Fiat (+12.8%) and Hyundai (+11.8%) all post sensational upticks just as Skoda (-3.5%) and Ford (-7.2%) resist. Quite strikingly, there are no additional gainer in the Top 25 bar Mini (+16.9%). Among recent launches, Cupra leaps up 8 spots on last month to #28.
