Kazakhstan January 2021: Chevrolet Cobalt and Nexia top market up 55.9%

New vehicle sales in Kazakhstan soar 55.9% year-on-year in January to 8.333 units. Hyundai (+110.6%) reclaims the brands top spot off Chevrolet (+7103.2%), now a local producer. The two carmakers add up to a whopping 55.5% share for the month vs. just 30% over the Full Year 2020. Toyota (+47.3%) is also above its FY2020 level at 12.6% share vs. 10.8% despite trailing the market slightly. The big loser this month is Lada (-37.3%) down to just 6.9% share vs. 18.8% over the FY2020. JAC (+335.6%), Nissan (+118.4%) and BMW (+82.6%) also impress.
Model-wise, Chevrolet holds the top two spots like last month with the Cobalt at 13.1% share and the Nexia at 12.1%, followed by three Hyundais in an unchanged Top 5 vs. December: the Accent (+454.2%), Tucson (+64.9%) and Creta (+52.6%). The Toyota RAV4 (+388.9%) and Camry (+66.8%) also outpace the market in the remainder of the Top 10. The new generation Skoda Rapid makes its first appearance directly at #23 while the Kia K5 appears at #68.
