The Toyota Corolla is the best-selling model in Finland in 2020.
The Finnish new car market drops -16.1% year-on-year in 2020 to fall below the symbolic 100.000 annual unit-mark at 94.434. Toyota (-12.6%) improves its market share to 14% and, like in 2019, distances Volkswagen (-15.8%), Skoda (-15.7%) and Volvo (-16.3%). Kia (-4.6%) resists well and overtakes Ford (-26.7%) to round out the Top 5. BMW (+14.9%) signs the only year-on-year gain in the Top 10, lifting three spots to land at #8, with Mercedes (-5.1%) also holding well at #7. Below, DS (+74.4%), Porsche (+56.5%), Fiat (+43%), Mini (+14.9%), Tesla (+7.4%) and Peugeot (+5.8%) all defy the negative market and progress in the remainder of the Top 30 brands for the year.
Over in the models ranking, the Toyota Corolla (+7.8%) steps up one spot to sign its first annual win in Finland since 2007. Leader during five of the past 7 years including last year, the Skoda Octavia (-30.4%) recedes to 2nd place in 2020 while the Toyota Yaris (-21.4%) overtakes the Nissan Qashqai (-32.1%) to land on the third step of the podium. Below the Ford Focus (-40.5%) and VW Golf (-28.9%) enduring heavy losses but holding onto their 2019 rankings at #5 and #6 respectively, the Volvo XC40 (+65.5%) soars up 18 spots to #7. The Volvo V60 (-12.3%) is up one rank to #8 and the Toyota RAV4 (-1%) is up four to #9. The Ford Puma (#34) leads new launches above the VW ID.3 (#62) which ranked #8 in December.
