United Arab Emirates January-September 2020: Nissan Patrol outsells Toyota Land Cruiser in market down -30.2%
The Nissan Patrol is the best-selling vehicle in the UAE so far in 2020.
The Emirati new vehicle market is off -30.2% year-on-year over the first 9 months of 2020 to 110.662 units vs. 158.480 over the same period a year ago. Both Toyota (-22.5%) and Nissan (-25.6%) resist better than the market to improve their share from 30.9% to 34.3% and from 20.1% to 21.5% respectively. This means these two brands hold almost 56% of the UAE market so far this year. In contrast Mitsubishi (-54%) implodes but remains in third place, with the remainder of the Top 7 also faring better than the market: Kia (-24.9%), Honda (-26.8%), Hyundai (-27.7%) and Lexus (-28.8%) somewhat containing their fall. In the remainder of the ranking, MG (+18.3%), Cadillac (+14.1%) and Hino (+7.8%) post the only gains in market.
In the models ranking, the new generation enable stable sales year-on-year for the Nissan Patrol (+0.2%) which leap frogs past the Toyota Land Cruiser (-18.9%) and Mitsubishi Pajero (-62.3%). The Toyota Hilux (-7.7%) is up two spots to climb onto the podium while the Nissan Sunny (-46.2%) is in great difficulty and rounds out the Top 5. The Toyota Hiace (+1.6%) posts the only additional gain in the Top 15, with the Nissan Urvan (+7.1%), GMC Sierra (+5.5%) and Toyota RAV4 (+1.7%) also up further down. The Chevrolet Captiva (aka Baojun 530) is the most popular new launch at #45 above the Kia Seltos at #60.
