Ukraine July 2020: Renault places 3 models in Top 4 in market up 10.2%
First ever monthly win for the Renault Sandero in Ukraine.
New car sales in Ukraine post a second straight positive month – and double-digit gain – in August at +10.2% year-on-year to 8.392 units, meaning the year-to-date tally is now down just -1.7% to 45.536. Brand leaders Renault (+19.7%) and Toyota (+10.4%) are both in great shape, holding 17.2% and 13.7% of the market respectively, but direct followers Skoda (-33.5%), Hyundai (-5.6%) and Kia (-27.9%) all struggle mightily. Peugeot (+113.3%) scores the largest gain in the Top 10, with Suzuki (+35.5%) and Mazda (+19.7%) also impressive, while further down the list of high achievers is almost never-ending and includes Ford (+143.6%), Ravon (+125.5%), Haval (+117%), Opel (+88.9%), Jeep (+72.7%), Mitsubishi (+66.9%), Volvo (+52.5%), JAC (+48.4%), Mercedes (+45.6%), Audi (+41.6%), Citroen (+39.4%), Chery (+34.2%), Honda (+33.3%), Lexus (+26.1%) and Fiat (+25.9%).
Model-wise, Renault manages a 1-2 with the Sandero surging 81.2% year-on-year to score what is believed to be its first ever monthly win in Ukraine while the Duster gains 9.5% to rank #2, advancing past the Kia Sportage (-51.4%) to snap the YTD crown as well. The Toyota RAV4 (+48.4%) also shines in third place while the Renault Logan (-1.8%) makes sure there are 3 Renaults in the August Top 4 and the Hyundai Tucson (+34.6%) rounds out the Top 5. The Ford Kuga (+322.2%), Toyota Camry (+46.8%) and Mazda CX-5 (+34.8%) also stand out in the remainder of the Top 10, just as the Mazda CX-30 (#46) tops recent launches above the Chery Tiggo 8 (#64) and Kia Xceed (#72) new for the month.
