Austria July 2020: Skoda (+8.1%), Renault (+6.9%), Mercedes (+4.5%) only survivors in reeling market (-21.1%)

New car sales in Austria continue to struggle in July at -21.2% year-on-year to 24.784 units, leading to a year-to-date tally down -33.6% to 137.571. Brand leader Volkswagen (-30.1%) is hit full frontal at 15.6% share, albeit in line with the 15.4% it commands YTD. Skoda (+8%) continues to outperform the market, alongside Renault (+7.5%) and Mercedes (+4.5%) the only Top 20 carmakers in positive this month. Toyota (-7%), Ford (-10.9%), Kia (-12.2%) and BMW (-15.2%) also manage to outpace the market but Opel (-60.6%), Mini (-45.8%), Nissan (-41.5%), Suzuki (-39%), Dacia (-36.1%), Volvo (-32.6%), Jeep (-32.5%), Citroen (-31%) and Fiat (-31%) all fall apart. Further down, Lamborghini (+700%), Ferrari (+100%), Porsche (+36.1%), Ssangyong (+26.7%), Honda (+6.7%) and Subaru (+6.1%) all shine with gains.
Over in the models ranking, the Skoda Octavia (+29%) takes full advantage of its new generation to easily top the charts with 4.9% share vs. 3.4% so far this year, while the VW T-Cross (+9.1%) is up 5 spots on June to #2, its new ranking record in Austria eclipsing its previous best of #4 hit last August. The Seat Ateca (+124.7%) also smashes its Austrian ranking high mark at #3 (previous best #7 last February). The Renault Zoe (+432.7%), Fiat 500 Family (+88.1%), Renault Captur (+63%), BMW 3 Series (+58.5%), Ford Focus (+20.9%) and BMW X1 (+17%) also shine further down.
