Austria June 2020: Renault (+18.7%), Skoda (+8.3%) buck negative trend (-18%)

The Skoda Octavia reclaims the #1 YTD spot off the VW Golf.

9/07 update: Now with Top 20 models.

The Austrian new car market continues to be on the mend at -18% year-on-year in June to 26.676 units, which is one of the best holds we have recorded in Europe so far. The year-to-date tally now stands at 112.787, down -35.8% over the same period in 2019. Brand leader Volkswagen (-24.9%) can’t quite match the market but however remains easily in the top spot at 16.1% share vs. 15.4% so far in 2020. Skoda (+8%) and Renault (+17.9%) on the other hand both buck the negative trend with sturdy year-on-year lifts. Only BMW (+1.3%) manages a positive result in the remainder of the Top 10, just as Opel (-46.7%), Hyundai (-27.6%) and Seat (-23%) freefall, Audi (-17.5%) matches the market drop and Mercedes (-10.8%) resists a little better. Below, Porsche (+76%), DS (+35.7%), Lexus (+34.8%), Lamborghini (+25%), Volvo (+24.8%), Subaru (+11.8%) and Mitsubishi (+7.1%) shine with significant year-on-year gains.

Model-wise, the Skoda Octavia (-2.3%) holds its drop to brilliantly reclaim the top of the charts both in June with 4.6% share and YTD at 3%, knocking off the VW Golf (-27.7%) stuck at a paltry 5th place for the month. The VW Group continues to outrageously dominate the Austrian charts, placing 12 models both in the June and YTD Top 5. The VW Polo (-8.3%) and T-Roc (+2.9%) both rally up 5 spots on May to #2 and #3 respectively, the VW T-Cross (+61.2%) is up two to #7, the Seat Arona (+53.2%) up 7 to #9 and the Skoda Karoq (+18.5%) up 4 to #11. The Renault Clio (+49.4%) and Captur (+39.3%) also shine, the Ford Puma breaks into the Austrian Top 20 for the first time at #18 and the Renault Kadjar (+25%) is up to #20.
