Taiwan June 2020: Toyota RAV4 (+88.8%) surges ahead in recovered market (+8.2%)
The Toyota RAV4 cements its YTD leadership in June.
Covid-19 has only disrupted Taiwanese new car sales for two months, with June deliveries back up 8.2% year-on-year to 41.386 units, resuming a growth trend initiated in February (+39.2%) and March (+14.5%). The year-to-date tally also tilts into positive at +1.4% and 209.782 sales. Toyota (+43.1%) and Lexus (+33.4%) spectacularly lead the charge of gaining brands this month, with Mazda (+23.4%) also very impressive and Ford (+7.9%), Nissan (+6.2%), BMW (+2.5%), Mitsubishi/CMC (+2.3%) and Honda (+0.2%) also joining the fray but definitely more discreet.
Model-wise, the Toyota RAV4 (+88.8%) resumes its domination with 9.4% share, scoring an 8th win in the past 11 months and cementing its YTD leadership at 8.4% of the market vs. 7.4% for the Toyota Corolla (-2.2%) down to #2 in June. The Honda CR-V (+0.2%) is back on the podium and advances to #6 YTD, it is followed this month by the Nissan Kicks (+3.7%), CMC Veryca (-9.5%) and Toyota Sienta (+36.7%). The Lexus NX (+22.6%) gains a further two spots on May to #8 overall, while the Mitsubishi Delica (+62.3%) and Ford Kuga (+161.2%) both post extravagant gains to round out the Top 10, the latter thanks to its new generation.
