Slovakia January 2020: Toyota (+45.4%), VW (+24%), Skoda (+16.9%) ignore market down -5.1%

Toyota sales surge 45.4% year-on-year in January in Slovakia.

New car sales in Slovakia drop -5.1% year-on-year in January to 6.733 registrations. Brand leaders Skoda (+16.9%) and Volkswagen (+24%) go completely against the grain and post fantastic double-digit gains leading them to 24.1% and 11.6% share respectively, vs. 19.9% and 8.7% over the FY2019. Hyundai (-23.9%) is hit full frontal but remains third at 7.8% of the market while Toyota (+45.4%) scores the largest gain in the Top 20 and is up two spots on December to #4. Mercedes (+17.9%) and BMW (+5.3%) also manage upticks in the remainder of the Top 10 but Peugeot (-36.5%), Opel (-21.2%), Kia (-10.7%) and Citroen (-6.2%) struggle. Further down, Ssangyong (+600%), Porsche (+137.5%), Land Rover (+69%), Jeep (+61.9%), Mitsubishi (+41.3%), Seat (+40.7%) and Fiat (+19.7%) stand out while DS returns at #30.
