Malawi Full Year 2019: Toyota reaches 56.8% share of market up 3.2%
The Toyota Rush is now inside the Malawi Top 10.
New vehicle sales in Malawi gain 3.2% year-on-year in 2019 to 1.830 units. Toyota (+16%) tightens its suffocating grip on the market even further this year, improving to 56.8% share. In contrast, Nissan (-7.2%), Ford (-8.7%), Tata (-16.4%), Kia (-22%) and Renault (-20%) all lose their footing in the remainder of the Top 6. Subaru (+230%) and Suzuki (+73.3%) stand out. Model-wise, the Toyota Hilux (+27.3%) and Land Cruiser (+56.2%) both surge ahead to reach 20.4% and 12.5% share respectively, distancing the Nissan Hardbody (+24.8%), Ford Ranger (-9.2%) and Toyota Corolla (-2.4%). Toyota also places the Prado (-36.8%), Land Cruiser Pickup (+252.4%), Fortuner (-13.9%) and Rush (+766.7%) inside the Top 10.
