Ireland February 2020: VW Tiguan best-seller in market down -7.8%

The VW Tiguan is the best-selling vehicle in Ireland in February.

The Irish new car market accelerates its fall in 2019 with February deliveries down -7.8% year-on-year to 13.906, leading to a year-to-date tally down -4.8% to 45.086. Volkswagen (-12.9%) is back in charge in the brands ranking despite a steep fall, with Skoda (-7%) up to #2 and Toyota (-9.7%) down two spots on January to #3. Nissan (+9.7%) and Peugeot (+7.3%) are the only Top 10 carmakers to manage a year-on-year uptick this month, with Kia (-5.3%) and Audi (-6%) resisting ok but Ford (-29.7%), Renault (-27.4%) and Hyundai (-16.6%) in freefall. Tesla (+3825%), Land Rover (+64.6%), Opel (+50.7%), Citroen (+42.6%), Dacia (+27.8%) and BMW (+14.4%) shine further down. Model-wise, the VW Tiguan (-1.6%) is the best-seller just like in February 2019, distancing the Hyundai Tucson (+44.3%), Toyota Corolla (-0.4%), Skoda Octavia (-11.4%) and Nissan Qashqai (-11%). The Dacia Duster (+60.8%), Ford Focus (+27.5%) and VW Passat (+9%) also impress in the Top 10 and the Tesla Model 3 (#30) tops recent launches just above the VW T-Cross (#32) and Skoda Scala (#33).
