Botswana Full Year 2019: Toyota Hilux #1, Land Cruiser PU on podium, 5 pickups in Top 6

We can now share with you 2019 sales info for Botswana thanks to our partnership with Lightstone and NAAMSA. The Top 5 brands are unchanged on 2018, with Toyota (+10.8%) increasing the gap with #2 Nissan (-9.3%) from 1.716 units in 2018 to 2.108 this year. Ford (+36%), Isuzu (+17.4%) and Volkswagen (+9.3%) all post very strong scores in the remainder of the Top 5 as does BMW (+14.1%) just below. Model-wise, the Toyota Hilux (+14.8%) sails off in the distance, now selling more than double the amount of its archenemy the Nissan NP300/Hardbody (-6.1%) but the hero of the year is the Toyota Land Cruiser Pickup (+80.8%) landing on the third step of the podium and toppling the Isuzu D-Max (+35.8%), itself in outstanding shape. This means like in 2018 the Top 4 models are 100% pickup trucks. The Ford Ranger (#6) makes it 5 in the Top 6 just as the Toyota Fortuner (+18%) is again the leader of the “rest”.
