Ireland November 2019: Tesla Model 3 storms into top spot in reduced market

The Tesla Model 3 is the best-selling vehicle in Ireland in November.

The Irish new car market shuts down for the end of the year as per the tradition in anticipation for new license plates issued in January. As such, the 769 registrations of November, although up 19.6% year-on-year, are almost insignificant and bring the year-to-date tally -6.8% to 116.888. Big event atop the brands ranking: Tesla shoots up to #1 with 18.5% share thanks to the first Model 3 deliveries in the country, eclipsing Toyota (+81.1%) and Skoda (+150%) both also in great shape. Renault (+457.1%) and Dacia (+86.7%) also impress in the remainder of the Top 10. The Tesla Model 3 takes control of the Irish models ranking with 17.7% share – keep in mind these are deliveries of years worth of orders – while the Toyota Land Cruiser makes a surprise appearance at #2, selling 68 units out of 70 year-to-date due to Defence Force deliveries starting this month (out of a total of 280). The Hyundai Kona (+800%) drops one spot on October to #3 ahead of the VW Polo (+15%), Skoda Octavia (+63.6%), Ford Kuga (+500%) and Dacia Duster (+157.1%) just as the Skoda Kamiq soars 44 ranks on last month to break into the Top 10 at #8.
