Slovakia September 2019: Kia Cee’d up to #2 in disappointing market (+7.3%)
The Cee’d lifts Kia Slovak sales up 97.1% in September.
The Slovak new car market only edges up 7.3% year-on-year in September to 4.849 units, whereas last year was a particularly weak post-WLTP comparison based (4.519), itself down 37% on September 2017 (7.177). The year-to-date tally is now up 1% to 76.481 units. Brand leader Skoda (+9.6%) beats the market to lift to a gargantuan 29.9% share vs. 19% YTD, while Hyundai (+5%) reclaims the #2 YTD spot off Volkswagen (+80.3%) while Kia (+97.1%) almost doubles its sales year-on-year to land at #3 for the month. Porsche (+550%), Nissan (+287.5%), Audi (+138.9%), Honda (+69.4%), Renault (+56.7%), Mercedes (+54.3%), Citroen (+33.6%), Dacia (+21.4%) and Mazda (+15.6%) also impress further down, the majority however simply compensating for excruciatingly low year-ago results.
Model-wise, the Skoda Fabia (+20.6%) reclaims the lead for the third time in the past 4 months, lifting to 8.1% share which cements its YTD domination to 5.5% share vs. 4.9% for the Skoda Octavia (-52.2%) down to a paltry 5th place this month. The Kia Cee’d (+114.3%) climbs up to 2nd place overall with 4.9% share vs. 4% YTD, distancing the Hyundai i30 (+16.8%) and Dacia Duster (+523.5%). The Skoda Karoq (+70.7%) also shine in 7th place.
