Thanks to our Israeli partner cartube.co.il, we can share with you today August brands data for Israel, models data is now a quarterly occurrence. The market sinks -18.1% to 19.279 units, leading to a year-to-date tally down -5.5% to 200.354. Toyota (+35.5%) blissfully ignores the adverse conditions and posts the largest gain in the Top 29 to take control of the brands ranking for the 5th time in the past 12 months after September 2018, December 2018, April and May 2019. The Japanese carmaker however remains #2 YTD below Hyundai (-15.3%) down to #2 this month. Kia (-43%) is hit particularly hard but manages to salvage its third place, a ranking it also holds YTD. In fact there is only one additional gainer in the Top 13: Seat (+9.6%) up six spots on July to a fantastic 6th place overall with 5% share vs. #10 and 3.1% YTD. All other Top 10 carmakers fall faster than the market, notably Mazda (-45%), Skoda (-33.1%), Mitsubishi (-32.2%), Nissan (-31.4%) and Renault (-24.5%). Further down, rare upticks include Land Rover (+277.8%), Cadillac (+83.3%), Dacia (+30.9%), Mercedes (+21.1%), Porsche (+15.4%), Jeep (+12.1%), Isuzu (+10.6%) and Audi (+10%).
