Thailand July 2019: Mitsubishi (+18.9%) impresses in 2nd straight market drop (-1.1%)

Mitsubishi sales soar 18.9% in a declining market.

New vehicle sales in Thailand endure a second consecutive month of year-on-year decline in July after 29 straight months of growth at -1.1% to 81.044 units, yet the YTD volume remains solidly in positive for now at +5.9% to 604.814. Market leader Toyota (-1.8%) falls slightly faster than the market but remains untouchable at 31.7% share, even though all remaining brands in the Top 4 swim upstream with sturdy gains: Isuzu (+5.3%), Honda (+5.1%) and most strikingly Mitsubishi (+18.9%) all shine. There’s no other gainer in the Top 10, with Ford (-18.8%), Mazda (-15.4%) and Nissan (-11.3%) hit particularly hard. Further down, Porsche (+175.9%), Volvo (+119%), Subaru (+106%) and Hyundai (+30.9%) make themselves noticed but none captures more than 0.5% share.
