Moldova May 2019: Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson shine in market down -5.8%
Kia Sportage sales surge 64.3% year-on-year in Moldova in May.
Based on data shared by our Central European market data partner CE Auto, new car sales in Moldova skid down -5.8% year-on-year in May to 552 units, yet the year-to-date tally remains in positive territory at +3% year-on-year to 2.511 registrations. After reclaiming the monthly top spot off the Dacia Duster last month, the Dacia Logan (-14%) is back to its ultra-dominant self in Moldova at 8.9% share even though it drops by the double-digits year-on-year. It is now alone at #1 YTD with 9.1% share vs. 8.2% for the Duster (+47.1%), still in excellent shape. The Hyundai Tucson (+47.6%), Toyota RAV4 (-15.2%), and Kia Sportage (+64.3%) make it 4 SUVs in the Top 5.
