New vehicle sales in Indonesia bounce back in June at +1.2% year-on-year to 59.539 units, leading to a H1 2019 tally down -13% to 481.577. Toyota (-0.5%) only edges own to 31.1% but Mitsubishi (+35.7%) is the hero of the month, swimming upstream with a fantastic year-on-year gain lifting the brand to #2 ahead of Honda (-16.9%), Suzuki (-17.5%) and Daihatsu (-10.4%) all under-performing. Nissan (+453.6%), Dongfeng (+267.9%), Mini (+150%), Wuling (+25.2%), Lexus (+18.4%) and Isuzu (+4.4%) also improve year-on-year.
The models ranking is very atypical, starting with the Mitsubishi Xpander (+41.1%) nabbing its first monthly win since September 2018, followed by the Toyota Calya (-2.3%), Toyota Kijang Innova (+128.8%), Honda Brio (+46%) and Suzuki Carry Pikap (+48.7%). Leader for the past 13 consecutive years, the Toyota Avanza (-23.8%) is down to a paltry 6th place for the month just as the Toyota Rush (+63.7%), Mitsubishi L-300 Pikap (+121.3%) and Daihatsu Gran Max Pikap (+91.3%) all post fantastic gains in the remainder of the Top 10. The Nissan Livina (#16), Toyota Yaris (#18) and Honda BR-V (#19) make rare appearances in the Indonesian Top 20.
