UK nations May 2019: Citroen places 3 models in Northern Irish Top 4

The Citroen C3 Aircross is up to #4 in Northern Ireland.

Thanks to our partnership with SMMT we can share with you today the Top 10 best-sellers for all UK nations in May. Keep in mind this is a zoom in by nation, all sales figures are included in the May UK update. This month Northern Ireland (+12.5% to 4.931) is head and shoulders above the other UK nations and the only one in positive – let alone double-digit positive – while Wales (-1.6% to 6.041) outpaces the overall UK market (-4.7%), England (-4.8% to 157.842) logically matches it and Scotland (-9.8% to 14.281) is in perdition. Year-to-date, Northern Ireland (+0.7%) is now also the only nation up, with England (-3.1%) and Wales (-3.1%) marching the UK market and Scotland (-4.1%) underperforming here too.

The Ford Fiesta is #1 in 3 out of 4 nations and recording great gains in two: Scotland (+29.8%) and Wales (+24.3%), but only #5 in Northern Ireland. The other winner is the Citroen C3 in Northern Ireland, topping the charts for the third time ever after December 2017 and March 2019. In fact, Citroen manages the incredible feat of placing 3 nameplates in the Northern Irish Top 4: the C4 Spacetourer at a record #3 (its 2nd Top 10 appearance here) and the C3 Aircross at a record #4 after breaking into the Top 10 for the first time last month. The Skoda Octavia at #2 means none of the Top 5 best-sellers appear in the UK Top 10 this month. Vauxhall places 3 models in the Scottish Top 5: the Grandland X at #2 again, the Corsa at #4 and the Mokka X at #5 and Ford monopolises the Welsh podium with the Fiesta, Ecosport and Kuga.
