Switzerland May 2019: Seat (+27.5%), Audi (+13.3%), Skoda (+11.8%) pull market up 0.8%

Seat sales shoot up 27.5% year-on-year in Switzerland this month.

New car sales in Switzerland gain a slim 0.8% year-on-year in May to 28.060 units, leading to a year-to-date volume up 1.8% to 128.745. Volkswagen (+0.5%) edges into positive at 12.2% share ahead of an impressive streak of 5 manufacturers outpacing the market this month: BMW (+2.3%), Mercedes (+1.6%), Skoda (+11.8%), Audi (+13.3%) and Seat (+27.5%). Toyota (+16.1%) and Opel (+9%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10 whereas Renault (-29.1%) is in freefall. Suzuki (+29.5%), Mazda (+19.7%) and Hyundai (+17.8%) also impress below. Over in the models ranking, the Skoda Octavia (+1.1%) easily stays on top ahead of the VW Tiguan (+33.2%) confirming it is now the brand’s favourite in Switzerland, toppling the Golf (-32.1%) with the T-Roc (+1.9%) back up 13 spots on April to #4. The Audi Q3 (+236.9%), Mercedes A-Class (+145.5%) and Suzuki Swift (+105.3%) score the largest gains in the Top 20.
