Israel May 2019: Hyundai (-2.9%) resists Toyota (+59.8%) in nightmare month (-17.1%)
Toyota sales surge 59.8% year-on-year in a market down -17.1%
Thanks to our partnership with cartube.co.il, we can share with you today May brands data for Israel, models data is now a quarterly occurrence. It’s a very difficult month for new car sales in the country at -17.1% to 21.375 units, tilting the YTD volume into negative territory at -2.4% to 136.244. Hyundai (-2.9%) is back up two spots to the #1 ranking it holds year-to-date, holding off Toyota’s attack (+59.8%) by just 34 units. Kia (-21.5%) slides into third place, with Dacia (+2.5%) and Renault (-4.7%) the only carmakers in the remainder of the Top 15 to manage to outpace the market. In contrast, Mazda (-48.9%), Nissan (-48.4%), Chevrolet (-44.5%), Peugeot (-40.8%), Skoda (-32.4%), Volkswagen (-28.1%), Mitsubishi (-26.9%) and Honda (-25.6%) all dive. Further down, Land Rover (+145.5%), DS (+60%), Lexus (+48.9%), MG (+44%), Mini (+39.5%), Isuzu (+38.5%) and Jeep (+4.9%) manage an uptick.
