The Toyota Avanza is up 31.6% in a market down -17.8%

9/06/2020 update: Now with Top 115 All-models.

It’s another depressing month for new car sales in Indonesia, down -17.8% in April to just 84.029 wholesales, leading to a year-to-date volume down -14.3% to 337.892. Market leader Toyota valiantly swims upstream with a +0.2% uptick leading to a mammoth 35% share vs. 31.6% so far this year, with Daihatsu (-14.5%) losing slightly less ground than the market in 2nd place but Honda (-31.6%) and Mitsubishi (-37.7%) are crashing down. Once again Nissan (+81.9%) is the hero of the Top 10 but is down 4 spots on March to #10. Further down, Dongfeng (+923.3%), Hyundai (+28.7%), Mini (+25%), Datsun (+21.9%) and Lexus (+2.9%) stand out. Model-wise, the Toyota Avanza (+31.6%) tightens its renewed stranglehold on the market at 10.8% share, distancing the Daihatsu Sigra (+20.3%) and Toyota Rush (+87.1%) also in outstanding shape. But the Mitsubishi Xpander (+49.7%), Toyota Calya (-45.2%) and Daihatsu Xenia (-57.8%) all implode.
