It consists of five main islands and two coral atolls with a total population of 54.194. American Samoa is the southernmost territory of the U.S. and one of two U.S. territories (with Jarvis Island) south of the Equator.

The new car market in American Samoa drops 12% year-on-year in 2018 to 380 registrations. Toyota (-1.5%) climbs above above Ford (-20.9%) in the brands ranking for the first time in 12 years with 35.3% share vs. 32.9% just as Hyundai (+17.5%) cements its position on the podium at 19.5% share. Nissan (-33.3%) implodes but Kia (+275%) shines. The Toyota Tacoma (-2.5%) is the best-selling nameplate with 20.3% share, eclipsing the Hyundai Tucson at 18.7% and Ford F-Series at 17.9%. These three models hold almost 57% of the American Samoan market in 2018.
