Ukraine January 2019: Renault (+36.5%) places Duster and Logan on top in market down 20.6%
The Renault Duster confirms it is the favourite vehicle in Ukraine.
Ukrainian new car sales crash down 20.6% year-on-year in January to just 5.258 units, but Renault (+36.5%) defies the surrounding gloom to majestically top the brands ranking with 15.3% share, distancing last year’s leader Toyota (-32.8%) at 12% and Nissan (-4.5%) at 8.1%. In the Top 10, only Hyundai (+26.8%) and Kia (+25%) also manage gains, whereas Volkswagen (-52.6%), Audi (-38.8%), Mazda (-33%), Mitsubishi (-23%) and Skoda (-22.1%) all fall even faster than the market. Below, Geely (+144.4%), Jaguar (+133.3%), Chery (+85.5%), Jeep (+80%), Land Rover (+52.4%), Honda (+41.7%), Fiat (+34.7%), Lada (+20.5%), Mercedes (+13.2%) and BMW (+12.2%) all impress with double-digit gains. The Renault Duster (+41.8%) confirms it is Ukraine’s new favourite after signing its first annual win in 2018, with Renault placing the Logan (+108.6%) in 2nd place for a spectacular 1-2. The Kia Sportage (+13.1%), Hyundai Tucson (+47%), Nissan Qashqai (-10.4%) and X-Trail (+13.2%) make it 5 SUVs in the Top 6 with the Toyota Corolla (+40.7%) also in great shape in the Top 10. The Audi Q8 (#30) remains the most popular recent launch (<12 months) above the Chery Tiggo 7 (#58), Skoda Karoq (#67) and Jaguar i-Pace (#80).
