Israel January 2019: Hyundai leads, Volvo and Skoda impress in market down 1.4%

After a particularly weak December (just 5.100 sales), new car sales in Israel are back in shape in January, yet down slightly year-on-year at -1.4% to 38.475 units. Strikingly, the Top 5 brands all swim upstream and post double-digit gains, led by Hyundai (+10%), Kia (+14%) and Toyota (+14%) ahead of Skoda (+28%) and Mitsubishi (+11%). Apart from Honda (+21%), the remainder of the Top 10 is (rather logically) in steep negative, with Renault (-29%), Mazda (-28%), Nissan (-24%) and Suzuki (-24%) all in great difficulty. Further down, Abarth (+550%), DS (+475%), Lexus (+172%), Ssangyong (+105%), Jeep (+104%), Alfa Romeo (+91%), Volvo (+50%), Jaguar (+30%), Citroen (+15%) and Seat (+15%) all impress while MG steps up to #27 vs. #31 over the FY2018 and Bentley makes a return at #41.
