The Israeli new car market continues on its excellent trajectory this year: up another 12% in May to 21,701 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 112,425 units, up a magnificent 20% on 2013. Brand-wise, Hyundai takes off in May to just under 17% share thanks to 3,678 sales, and manages to place two models on the podium: the i35 (aka Elantra) ranks #2 with 861 sales and 4% and the i10, boosted by the arrival of the new generation, is third at 856 units and 3.9% vs. #12 and #14 respectively year-to-date. Toyota is back down to #2 brand with 2,548 sales and 11.7%, 54% of which are for the Corolla which manages to hold the monthly top spot for the 10th consecutive time!
Kia is the third most popular brand in the country once again with just under 10% share and the Picanto down to #4 but still #2 year-to-date. The Suzuki SX4 is down one spot on April to round up the Top 5 while the Hyundai i20 is back up 11 o #6 and the Skoda Octavia up 3 to #7. Excellent month for the Mazda CX-5 up 14 to break into the Israeli Top 10 for the 2nd time after last February at #10, the Opel Astra up 24 to #16, Renault Kangoo up 45 to #22 and the Peugeot 2008 up 22 to #50. We welcome the Opel Mokka at #128, the BMW 2 Series at #162, the Mercedes GLA at #224 and the Porsche Macan at #225.
