Northern Ireland (UK) Full Year 2018: Ford Kuga up to #2, VW Tiguan wins one month

Keep in mind this is only a zoom in by UK nation, all sales figures are already included in the UK Full Year 2018 update. Northern Ireland is the best performing UK nation in 2018 with a restrained -3.3% drop to 52.533 registrations. After being interrupted by the VW Golf in 2017, the Ford Fiesta reclaims the Northern Irish crown for the 6th time in the past 7 years, ranking #1 five times this year (January, February, March, June and September). The most notable performance is delivered by the Ford Kuga (+16.5%) up three spots to end 2018 at a record 2nd place, leapfrogging past the VW Golf (-24.1%) – leader in April and December equal with the Kuga – and Hyundai Tucson (-24.3%) and topping the monthly charts twice (November and December). The Nissan Qashqai (+11.5%) is also in great shape, celebrating its first Northern Irish win in July and making it three SUVs in the Top 5. The Ford Focus (-11.1%) won in April and the VW Polo (+3.6%) in August. The VW Tiguan breaks into the annual Top 10 for the first time after improving its best monthly ranking to #8 in March and stunningly ranking #1 overall in October. For the Renault Captur, it’s the third annual Top 10 after 2014 and 2015. The Seat Leon nabbed its first podium in March and the nameplates recording their first monthly Top 10 in Northern Ireland this year are the Skoda Superb (#4 in January), Octavia (#10 in April), Citroen C4 Cactus (#6 in June and #4 in September), Toyota C-HR (#8 in August), Peugeot 3008 (#10 in August), Citroen C4 Spacetourer (#6 in September) and Ford Ecosport (#9 in November).
