Vietnam July 2018: Toyota Innova and Kia Cerato shine

The Vietnamese new vehicle market gains 3.9% year-on-year in July 2018 to 21.466 registrations, meaning the year-to-date volume is now down 5% to 147.125. Thaco-Kia (-6%) remains the most popular manufacturer in the country solely thanks to its truck lineup representing 43% of its July sales, distancing Toyota (-0.5%) while Mazda (28%), Honda (+69%) and Hyundai (+63%) shoot up. Peugeot (+1358%), Nissan (+53%) and Mercedes (+48%) also impress whereas Ford (-42%) sinks. The Toyota Vios (+15%) is once again the best-selling nameplate in Vietnam but the Toyota Innova (+106%) and Kia Cerato (+140%) are catching up while the Mazda3 (+36%) and CX-5 (+54%) also vastly outpace the market in the remainder of the Top 5. The Mitsubishi Outlander (+480%), Toyota Camry (+156%), Toyota Corolla (+43%) and Honda City (+28%) also stand out.
