New vehicle sales in Vietnam drop 10% year-on-year in June to 21.913 registrations, pulling the year-to-date volume down 6.4% to 125.659 units. Thaco-Kia (-7%) remains the most popular manufacturer in the country thanks to its heavy truck lineup accounting for 48% of its June sales and without which it would only rank 4th best-selling brand. Toyota freefalls 37% to 19.5% share, but Mazda (+33%) and most strikingly Honda (+128%) surge ahead just below. Ford (-44%) tumbles down but remains 5th ahead of Hyundai (+40%), Chevrolet (+38%) and Mercedes (+22%) all in great shape. Peugeot (+2388%) posts the largest gain in market with Nissan (+72%) also very impressive. Model-wise, the Toyota Vios (-24%) remains master in command despite a steep drop due to a particularly high base in June 2017, and distances the Toyota Innova, Mazda3 and Mazda CX-5, reproducing the YTD Top 4. The Kia Cerato soar 125% to remain in 5th place, with other great gainers including the Ford Focus (+253%), Honda CR-V (+219%), Ford Ecosport (+64%) and Toyota Corolla (+62%). The Chevrolet Trailblazer (#17) tops all recent launches (<12 months).
