New car sales in Denmark gain a strong 8.5% in July to 16.506 registrations, meaning the year-to-date tally is now down just 1% to 137.621 units. As it has been the case in most European countries this month, Volkswagen gets a boost from rebates aimed at clearing stock ahead of the WLTP standard implementation in September, with deliveries surging 32% to 16.7% share vs. 14.3% so far in 2018. In the remainder of the podium, Peugeot (-7%) and Toyota (-4%) on the other hand go against the market with year-on-year drops. Nissan (+89%), Citroen (+25%), Skoda (+11%) and Ford (+9%) also beat the market in the Top 10 whereas Opel (-22%) and Suzuki (-14%) sink. Further down, DS (+343%), Jaguar (+212%), Subaru (+211%) and Jeep (+175%) are the most dynamic.

Model-wise, the Top 3 best-sellers all double their sales year-on-year: the Nissan Qasqhai (+122%) repeats at #1, ranking ahead the VW Polo (+99%) and Citroen C3 (+118%). The year-to-date leader, the Peugeot 208 (-26%), is in difficulty at #4 but keeps a 600-unit advantage over the Qashqai YTD. Other great performers in the Top 30 include the BMW 3 Series (+378%), Kia Niro (+290%), VW Tiguan (+243%), Toyota RAV4 (+178%), Suzuki Baleno (+158%), Peugeot 308 (+104%) and VW Passat (+92%). The VW T-Roc (#19) tops all recent launches ahead of the Opel Grandland X (#31) and Citroen C4 Spacetourer (#66) for its first appearance in the Danish charts.
