New light vehicle sales in New Caledonia, a French Overseas archipelago located north-east of Australia, post a very strong score in June at +17.8% to 845 registrations, yet due to a weak start of the year the YTD tally is still in the red at -3.8% to 4.013 sales. Keep in mind New Caledonian sales aren’t included in our monthly French updates that only represents Metropolitan France. Toyota stuns with a 422% year-on-year surge to a fantastic 16.7% share, snapping the YTD pole position off Peugeot thanks to deliveries up 50% to 11.3% share. In fact, Peugeot drops two spots to #3 in the YTD order this month, as low-cost star Dacia, up 28% to 12.%% in June, steps up to #2 so far in 2017 despite sales down 18% year-on-year. Renault (+44%) remains in third place, ahead of Ford (-30%) freefalling. Mitsubishi (+164%), Suzuki (+59%), Fiat (+54%), Kia (+44%), Subaru (+36%) and Nissan (+25%) also make themselves noticed in the Top 15.

The Duster (+50%) and Sandero (+124%) help Dacia up to #2 brand so far in 2018.

Model-wise, the Toyota Hilux (+438%!) holds onto the top spot for the 2nd month running and is now just 22 sales below the Ford Ranger in the battle for YTD #1 honours. The Dacia Duster (+50%) benefits from the new model and cements its third rank YTD, with the Dacia Sandero (+124%) and Renault Clio (+153%) also extremely dynamic in the June Top 5. The Toyota Yaris is up 15-fold to #7, the Toyota RAV4 up 360% to #9 and the Isuzu D-Max (#6), Nissan Navara (#8) and Mitsubishi L200 (#11) make it 5 pickups in the Top 11 in a ranking vastly different from Metropolitan France. The Citroen C3 Aircross tops all recent launches (<12 months) at #14 (+25) ahead of the Hyundai Kona at #35 (+5).
