Poland April 2018: VW soars 32%, Skoda Octavia reclaims YTD lead

The VW Tiguan (+45%) isn’t suffering from the arrival of the T-Roc.

Another outstanding month for new car sales in Poland: up 13.1% year-on-year in April to 50.161 units, a new record for the month boosting the YTD tally up 11% to an all-time high 205.388. Brands leader Skoda trails the market slightly at +12%, with Volkswagen surging 32% on April 2017 to end the month only 46 sales below. Toyota (+16%) and Ford (+16%) follow just above the market growth whereas Opel (+7%), Renault (-6%) and Fiat (+2%) all underperform. Hyundai (+26%), Peugeot (+24%) and Kia (+15%) also shine while Seat (#14) and BMW (#15) break into the Top 15, knocking Citroen and Audi out. Model-wise, the Skoda Octavia (+14%) reclaims the YTD lead off the Skoda Fabia (+7%), both nameplates distancing the Opel Astra (-8%), Toyota Yaris (+20%) and Auris (-3%) in April. The Toyota Corolla (+55%), Ford Focus (+28%) and Fiat Tipo (+21%) post the largest gains in the Top 10 with the Nissan Qashqai (+66%), VW Polo (+57%), Tiguan (+45%), Passat (+32%), Dacia Sandero (+28%), Skoda Superb (+28%) and Toyota C-HR (+28%) also in great shape. The Skoda Karoq tops all recent launches at #35 (+6 on March) whereas the VW T-Roc disappears from the Top 50.
