Slovakia February 2018: Dacia (+46%) and Citroen (+29%) shine in market down
Dacia sales are up 46% year-on-year in a market down 7.4%.

The Slovak new car market sinks 7.4% year-on-year in February to 7.743 registrations, but after January sales up a whopping 48.8% the YTD volume remains frankly in positive at +14.6% to 15.793 units. Skoda defies the surrounding gloom with a 11% year-on-year uplift to 20.2% share vs. 21% and +25% so far in 2017. Kia edges up 0.5% to snap the 2nd spot off Volkswagen (-27%) at 8.5% vs. 8.1% but remains #3 year-to-date. Hyundai is down 7% but up one spot on January to #4 while Dacia surges 46% to #5 vs. #12 in January and #6 YTD. Peugeot (-15%) drops two spots to #6, with Suzuki (-24%) in tow while Citroen gains 29% but is down two ranks on last month to #7. Other gainers this month include Lada (+233%), Land Rover (+131%), Porsche (+120%), Jeep (+80%), Lexus (+40%), Audi (+20%), Alfa Romeo (+11%) and Nissan (+10%).

The Skoda Octavia reclaims the lead thanks to sales soaring 34% year-on-year but the Skoda Fabia (-4% in February) remains in the YTD lead with deliveries up 32%. The Skoda Rapid (+8% this month) ranks third in both rankings. The Kia Sportage (+41%) confirms it is now the favourite non-Skoda nameplate in Slovakia at #4 overall, distancing the Kia Cee’d (-15%), Hyundai i30 (-11%) and Tucson (-24%). The Suzuki Vitara drops 51% to #8 while the VW Golf is down 16% to #9 and the Skoda Kodiaq rounds up the Top 10.
