UK nations August 2017: Vauxhall Mokka X #1 in two nations

The Vauxhall Mokka X brilliantly tops Scotland and Wales in August.

Thanks to our partnership with SMMT we can share with you the Top 10 best-sellers for each UK nation in August. Keep in mind this is only a zoom in by nation, all sales figures are already included in the August UK update. England is the best-performing nation this month with a 5.8% year-on-year drop to 64.399 units, while Northern Ireland, down 9.3% to 3.647, Scotland down 10% to 5.827 and Wales down 10% to 2.242 all struggle. Year-to-date, England is down just 1.9% to 1.413.536, Scotland down 4.1% to 129.522, Northern Ireland down 5.5% to 39.580 and Wales is the hardest hit at -8.1% to 52.850.

The Citroen C3 ranks 4th in Northern Ireland. 

Low volumes in August allow for some ranking reshuffles and the Vauxhall Mokka is the big winner this month, managing an astounding top spot in both Scotland and Wales while ranking #3 in England and #6 in Northern Ireland. The Ford Fiesta (England) and VW Golf (Northern Ireland) win the remaining nations. The two additional crossovers featuring in the August UK Top 10 are also very consistent performers: the Ford Kuga is #2 in Wales, #3 in Northern Ireland, #6 in England and #10 in Scotland while the Kia Sportage is #5 in Scotland, #6 in Wales, #7 in Northern Ireland and #10 in England. Other great performers in August include the Fiat 500 up to #2 in Scotland, the Citroen C3 up to #4 in Northern Ireland, the BMW X3 up to #7 in Scotland and the Ford Ka+ up to #9 in Wales.
