Thanks to our partnership with SMMT we can share with you the Top 10 best-selling nameplates of each UK nation in August. As a reminder, this data is already included in the UK August update, this is a zoom-in by nation. As it has been the case for the most part of the year, England (+4.5%) lifts the entire UK market up: as fleet sales fare particularly well in August (+8%), England is advantaged as this is where most UK fleet sales are registered. Northern Ireland (+2.5%) also posts a positive score but Scotland and Wales both drop 3% compared to August 2015. Year-to-date, England is up 3.5% to 1.441.461 or 86% of the overall UK market, Scotland is down 1% to 135.031 (8% share), Wales is down 0.3% to 57.483 (3.4% share) and Northern Ireland up 0.8% to 41.891 (2.5% share).

As it was the case in July, the Ford Fiesta leads each nation bar Northern Ireland where the VW Golf snaps the top spot. The Ford Focus owes its overall 2nd place in the UK solely to England where it ranks #2 also, whereas it is knocked down outside of the podium in each other nation. The Vauxhall Mokka is inside every nation’s Top 10: #3 in Wales, #4 in Scotland and #7 both in England and Northern Ireland. The Ford Kuga posts a splendid 2nd place in Wales and also ranks #6 in both Northern Ireland and Scotland.
