Slovenia May 2017: VW Golf catches up on Renault Clio
VW Golf sales are up 61% vs. -47% for the Renault Clio.

New car sales in Slovenia are up 7.3% year-on-year in May to 6.786 registrations, leading to a year-to-date tally up 10.5% to 31.477 units. Brand leader Volkswagen continues to grow much faster than the market at +24% to 16.9% share whereas Renault drops 17% year-on-year to 15.2%. Inside the Top 10, BMW (+23%), Skoda (+34%), Hyundai (+50%) and Toyota (+70%) all post gains that are significantly above the market growth. Further down, Nissan (+98%), Suzuki (+74%), Honda (+41%), Mini (+65%), Volvo (+47%) and Alfa Romeo (+350%) also shine. Model-wise, the Renault Clio is still in the lead buy crumbles 47% year-on-year whereas its four followers all outpace the market: the VW Golf is up 61%, the Skoda Octavia up 38%, the Renault Captur up 87% and the VW Polo up 22%. Add the Hyundai Tucson up 96% to #7, the Skoda Fabia up 39% and the Renault Megane up 27% to make it seven nameplates displaying double-0digit gains inside the Top 10 this month. The Citroen C3 (+108%), VW Up (+296%) and Nissan Juke (+394%) are the most dynamic in the Top 20 and the Skoda Kodiaq (#38) dominates recent launches.
