After gaining 57% in February, the Greek new car market continues on its euphoric run in this start of 2017 with a 49.5% surge in March to 9.445 registrations, leading to a 38% improvement over the First Quarter of the year to 21.097 units. As it was already the case a year ago, Nissan is by far the best-selling manufacturer in the country in March with stable sales at 1.239 and 13.1% share, distancing Toyota (+66%), Opel (+66% also), Volkswagen (+7%) and Fiat (+68%). The entire Top 20 posts year-on-year gains, with the most spectacular going to Suzuki (+82%), Citroen (+139%), Seat (+173%), Renault (+176%), Skoda (+211%) and Hyundai (+784%).
Model-wise, also reproducing an order that was valid in March last year, the Nissan Micra takes the lead with 7% market share despite a 10% drop. As a result, the Micra is now #2 year-to-date. In March it distances the Toyota Yaris and Opel Corsa both up 60% while the Renault Clio is up 3-fold in 4th place and the Nissan Qashqai is stable in 5th. The Citroen C3 is up 5-fold to #6 and the Hyundai i20 up 12-fold to #7. Among recent launches, the Suzuki Baleno ranks #23, the Ignis is at #33 and the Toyota C-HR at #35.
