Uganda Full Year 2016: Toyota Hilux and Mitsubishi L200 on top

New vehicle sales in Uganda are down 11% to 2.468 units, with Toyota down just 1% and consequently improving its market share to 40.8%. The Japanese carmaker is followed by Mitsubishi (-6%), Tata (-37%) and Nissan (-38%). Isuzu (+83%) and Foton (+300%) gain significant volume. Model-wise, the Toyota Hilux gains 9% to improve its market share to 24.1% – or one in four vehicles sold in the country – with the Mitsubishi L200 doing even better at +20%, up two spots to #2 with 9.8%. The L200 twin, the Fiat Fullback, has landed in Uganda with two sales this year. The Ford Ranger makes the Ugandan podium 100% pickup trucks while the Land Cruiser and Prado make it three Toyotas in the Top 5. Notice also the Isuzu TFS up 78% to #7 and the Great Wall Wingle up to #9.
