Turkey January 2017: Renault places Clio & Mégane on top

The Renault Mégane ranks #2 in Turkey in January, with the sedan accounting for 96% of sales.

The Turkish new car market is up 8% year-on-year in January to a still meagre 35.323 registrations, this month traditionally being the weakest of the year in the country. Renault (+8%) and Ford (+20%) overtake 2016 leader Volkswagen (-5%) to snap the top two spots in the brands ranking ahead of Fiat (+1%) and Hyundai (+2%). Toyota surges 54% to 6th place, with Dacia (+17%), Opel (+25%), Nissan (+36%) and Honda (+79%) all posting double-digit gains in the Top 10. Beyond, Jeep (+21%), Skoda (+29%), Kia (+48%), Citroen (+49%), Iveco (+66%) and most strikingly Suzuki (+1029%) impress.

Honda Civic 

In the models ranking, Renault manages a 1-2 with the Clio in pole position with 5.2% share above the Mégane at 4.9%, the sedan variant accounting for 96% of the nameplate’s sales in Turkey this month. Leader in December, the Ford Courier drops to #3, followed by the Toyota Corolla (-10%) and Ford Transit (-1%). Boosted by a new generation, the Honda Civic is up 190% to #6, while the Fiat Egea, #1 over the Full Year 2016, is knocked down to #8. The Toyota C-HR, produced locally, is up 14 spots on December to #33, the Seat Ateca breaks into the Top 100 at #88 and the Audi Q2 is up 29 spots to #108.
