Tunisia Full Year 2016: Isuzu D-Max and Kia Rio superstars

New light vehicle sales in Tunisia are up 9% year-on-year in 2016 to 60.595 units. The brands ranking is completely reshuffled, with Isuzu edging past all other carmakers to come from 6th place in 2015 and snap a surprise win thanks to sales surging 61% to 6.073 for a round 10% share. The Japanese manufacturer distances Volkswagen at 9.9% (+8%), last year’s leader Citroen down 19% to 9.3%, Kia up a splendid 29% to 8.9% and Peugeot down 14% to 7.7%. Hyundai (+22%), Nissan (+62%), Ford (+79%), Ssangyong (+96%), Skoda (+101%) and Tata (+718%) all post impressive growth. Notice the arrival of a handful of Chinese brands: Chery (#24), King Long (#28) and BAIC Yinxiang (#30).

In the Passenger Cars segment, after only 6 years of presence in the country Kia manages the feat to climb up to #1 with 12.9% share, galloping past Volkswagen (11.2%), Renault (10.3%) and Hyundai (8.7%). Isuzu is the king of commercial vehicles with one in three sales (32% share), way above Citroen at 16.4%, Peugeot at 9.1% and Volkswagen at 7.1%. No official models ranking has been unveiled for Tunisia, however it’s a safe bet to assume the Isuzu D-Max is this year’s best-seller, with the Kia Rio (3.732 sales announced by the brand, up 15%) in 2nd place. Note Kia also said the Picanto sold 1.070 units (+117%) and the Sportage 262.
