The Kenyan new vehicle market is down a harsh 29% year-on-year in 2016 to 13.869 units, and is one of the very few African markets not dominated by Toyota. Instead, Isuzu leads the sales charts with an imposing 33.5% market share (-26%) while Toyota points in 2nd place at 17.5% (-29%) ahead of Mitsubishi at 15.2% (-33%) and Tata at 6% (-28%). This order has a lot to do with the fact that Kenyan data includes medium and heavy trucks, a segment where Isuzu dominates. Nissan (+22%) and Chevrolet (+9%) are the only two manufacturers managing a year-on-year gain in the Top 10. The fight for the title of best-selling vehicle is extremely tight this year, with Toyota Hilux keeping the lead over the Isuzu KB for only 10 units vs. 280 a year ago. The Toyota Land Cruiser 70, Ford Ranger and Nissan NP300 Hardbody complete a Top 5 unchanged on 2015.
