The Dutch new car market continues to struggle in November at -20% to 32.271 units, pulling the year-to-date tally down 9% to 347.286 deliveries. Market leaders Renault (+43%) and Opel (+37%) go completely against the grain and both post spectacular year-on-uyear gains, as opposed to Volkswagen (-43%) and Peugeot (-52%). This is illustrated in the models ranking on one hand by the Renault Clio (+51%) in the November lead and snapping the year-to-date lead off the VW Golf at 9.562 sales vs. 9.527, and the Mégane up 277% to #6 thanks to the new generation. In the Opel aisle, the Astra up a whopping 186% to #2 overall while the Karl is up 79% to #3. Volkswagen remains however leader year-to-date with 11.1% share vs. 9% for Renault, its most immediate follower.
The Kia Niro shoots up to #16 in November.
Kia (+47%), Hyundai (+97%), Suzuki (+19%), Tesla (+12%) and Alfa Romeo (+10%) are the only other manufacturers registering double-digit growth inside the Top 30. On the other hand, Volvo (-64%), Audi (-31%), Citroen (-38%), Seat (-25%), Fiat (-27%), Mitsubishi (-72%) and Dacia (-57%) suffer. These outlandish year-on-year evolutions are the result of the discontinuation of a green tax system Katy the end of 2015 that favoured eco-friendly variants. Other notable models evolutions include the Peugeot 208 up 73% to #5, the Peugeot 108 up 105% to #11, the Kia Niro up 39 spots to #16 overall with 580 sales, the BMW 3 Series up 73%, Hyundai i10 up 110% and the Peugeot 2008 up 91%. We welcome the Toyota C-HR at #54 and the Suzuki Ignis at #147.
