Portugal September 2016: Renault Clio and Mégane on podium

New car sales in Portugal gain another impressive 11% in September to 13.960 units, lifting the year-to-date tally up 15% to 158.926. Renault cements its market domination by frankly beating the market at +27% to 1.555 sales and 11.1% share, distancing Peugeot at 9.5% (+33%) and Mercedes remaining extremely strong at 9.2% (+4%). Volkswagen (+1%) loses share and is getting caught up by BMW (+10%). Seat (+40%), Fiat (+21%), Mazda (+36%), Hyundai (+80%), Mini (+23%), Land Rover (+166%), Alfa Romeo (+96%) and Jaguar (+112%) all post spectacular year-on-year gains for their Portuguese sales in September.
Peugeot 2008 sales are up 65% in Portugal thanks to its facelift.
The Renault Clio remains the most popular nameplate in the country, even improving its market share to 4.6% thanks to sales up 24%, keeping the VW Golf at bay (-10%). Boosted by the new generation, the Renault Mégane (+24%) is up 9 spots on August to land in third place above the Mercedes A-Class (+24%), Peugeot 308 (+39%) and Peugeot 2008 (+65%). The Opel Astra (+39%), Seat Leon (+40%) and Fiat 500 (+43%) also shine. This month we welcome the Fiat 124 Spider at #167 with its very first 7 sales.
