Greece September 2016: Opel Corsa takes lead in market down 10%

The Greek new car market is down for the second month in a row in September at -10% to 4.595 registrations, lowering the year-to-date growth to +8.6% at 63.216 units after 9 months. Toyota (+18%) remains the most popular brand at 11.7% share ahead of Opel shooting up 26% to 11.1% and Volkswagen down 23% to 8.4%. Mercedes freefalls down 40% to 324 sales and 7.1% share in 4th place, followed by Peugeot and Fiat both in positive. Suzuki (+21%), Renault (+114%), Mini (+19%), Seat (+19%) and Jeep (+13%), Honda (+16%) and Dacia (+153%) are the only other gainers in the Top 25. The Opel Corsa becomes the best-selling model in Greece for the first time since December 2014 thanks to deliveries up 13% to 295 but the Toyota Yaris, up 1% to 267 this month, comfortably holds onto the year-to-date pole position at 4.192 units vs. 2.948 for the Corsa. The Fiat Panda is up 40% in 5th place, the Opel Astra up 41% to #7, the Renault Clio up 179% to #8, Mercedes GLA up 35% to #9 and the Toyota Auris up 78% to #12.
